Jake Makes Me Smile
Polar Express was such a great time last night. Me, saying Jake had an absolute blast is an understatement. To see him that happy and excited makes my heart melt. The first thing he said this morning was how much fun the train ride was! Last night reminds me of how blessed I am. The year 2010 has been one of the best years of my life and to think that 2011 we will be adding another beautiful child to our family is overwhelming. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!!

Slacky Slackerson
Yep, I have been slacking on posting and I am sorry. I wasn't really busy. Well, I take that back. I kinda was. One of the highlights of my Christmas break every year is going to watch my brother's high school team play. We usually have to travel 5 hours to see a game but we got lucky this year. They were playing in a tournament in Lake Charles so it was only about 3 hours! Everything helps when you are traveling with a 3 year old. His team won the game we saw and it was so fun to see them play! My brother is just incredible, he knows his stuff no doubt. He's so intense and passionate about his team so I love hearing him coach his players. He coaches a very small 4A team and the tournament they ended up taking 1st in was a big 5A. Pretty awesome!
The night I actually got back home Cody immediately starting feeling bad. He began throwing up and all the extra stuff that went with it for a solid 24 hours. Poor guy. I kept him quarantined to one room. Two bottles of Lysol, a bottle of germ-x, and one air conditioner filter later me and Jake are still feeling good. I hate to jinx us cause that stuff hits FAST and there is no stopping it. Did I mention how pitiful my husband was when he was sick? I know he felt bad but sweet baby Jesus......
I know Cody will kill me for this but its toooo funny not to share....Last night Jake and I ran to the store and he saw some Iron Man slipper socks he wanted and I caved after I threatened him not to even ask for ANYTHING while we were in there...you know what happened. Anyway-so we got home and he put them on first thing, he wanted to show Cody but Cody was in the bathroom. He knocks on the door and yells out, "Cody are you taking a DIE-A-RITA in there cause I want you show you my socks?!" Cody and I both lost it! The kid is hilarious!
Tonight we are going to Palestine to ride on the Polar Express. We are all so excited. This mom of the year waited until the last minute to buy the tickets and there were no more climate controlled seats available. So, we are going to dress very warm and bring a blanket. We will freeze I'm sure. Hey with everything as crazy as it has been we are lucky to have tickets at all. I will see if I can upgrade when I get there but I'm not counting on it. I have never rode in first class so why even try and start now??
One last thing before I go that I thought was pretty cool and just shows you how amazing God is! Yesterday Cody slept all day and Jake played wonderfully by himself so I decided to get my pantry and Jake's drawers cleaned out. I went through all of his stuff and put all of the clothes that were too small up for his brother. It was mainly all summer clothes. My child seems like a very big kid but he's always been true to his size. Until now, he totally skipped the size 4t. He went from 3 to a 5. So anyways, Jake was over at Wade's playing and when I walked over to pick him up Wade's dad had two huge garbage bags full of size 5/6 summer clothes Wade had grown out of for Jake! I have tried to donate as much as I can to families this Christmas that are not as fortunate and it always comes back to us every single time! Jesus is the reason for the season!!!!
I am going to attempt to bake some pies tomorrow for people like Wade's family that have made us feel so welcome since the day we moved in! Wish me luck. I'm going to try this Chocolate Bourbon Pecan. It looks wonderful. Think they would care if a tiny sliver is missing upon delivery?

Too Blessed To Be Stressed
I have quoted this over and over this week! I am so glad this week is over! Lord, it has been exhausting! I am usually a pretty positive person but this week I feel like I have been tested. Seems like every time I turn around I am hearing of somebody dying, having health issues, or just personal problems. I think I have prayed more this week than ever in my life. I told one of my best friends they have to stop calling me with all this. It's a surprise I don't have a cold sore yet. If you are offering up extra prayers this week pray for my friends and that they may all find peace and health during this holiday season. I'm pretty sure He will know just who you are talking about!
Jake had a great time in pre school this week. Polar Express was Tuesday and his class party was Thursday!
The day of Polar Express they got to wear pj's. Jake will probably kill me for making him wear tight pj's in 20 years but these were the cutest Christmas ones he had. I had to tell him he would look like Santa's helper if he wore them. When we got to school that morning every kid in his class was wearing the button up shirt, baggy pants pj's. Oh well, he was precious!
I can't believe how big he is getting, Look at those long legs! He get it from his mama! We are going on the Polar Express next Thursday in Palestine and we are sooo excited! I think Cody and I are more excited than Jake.

Jake-The Engineer
Don't forget about the FREE Scentsy pot giveaway in this post!
Last Sunday Cody got called in to work so Jake and I got up and went to church! (For those of you that don't know Jake will be a rock star one day. I'm not certain he isn't already one. Anyway- he would rather watch CMT and GAC videos and strum his guitar that any cartoon that comes on! He has a bar stool he sits on with his guitar in front of the TV and will play for hours. He has figured out YouTube and that you can actually put the song you want in there and it will play rather than waiting all day for Water, Rain is a Good Thing, Farmer's Daughter, and any Blake Shelton song just to name a few of his favorites. Needless to say, Cody and I are constantly running back and forth to the computer to type in a new song for him!) Jake has been asking for a real microphone for about a year now. He has specifically asked for one that will reach his mouth as he sits on his bar stool so he can hold his guitar and not have to worry about holding the mic. I have hesitated getting one for my own sanity purposes. I have completely lost it this Christmas because he will be getting an electric guitar and a microphone! So, as I am getting out of the shower on Sunday I see him in the living room in his usual spot in front of CMT with his guitar. But then I notice something....He has "engineered" the microphone just right. He took a pistol case that he plays with and slipped the mic in it. The case has a clip on it that he clipped right on his guitar stand so it is perfectly level with his mouth!! I snuck in and got a pic with my phone:
I tried to get this pic flipped but ugghhhhh.I'm annoyed!
When he sees me out of the shower he runs in the room and tells me he needs paper and a pen. Of course I ask him what for and he responds he needs to write his songs.

Sports-It's What I Love
I am so passionate about so many things like my faith, my family, my job, and SPORTS! I guess considering that basketball paid for half of my college education could be the reason. I have always dreamed of being a basketball coach but I know I would have to coach volleyball, track, and softball. And I just don't like those enough to spend long hours at the school away from my family. Cody has this vision that I am going to coach in Centerville and save the town and take them to a state championship. It's so sweet he believes in me too, but I love my family way too much at this point to be away. My whole family is sports oriented. My brother also played college basketball and is an amazing coach in Louisiana. He teaches at a school where he is a minority and plays a father figure as well as a coach to many of his players. It's incredible how many players succeed there and get to go to college because of him. His story should be made in to a movie. Or maybe I just think that because he's my brother!! My nieces and nephews have gotten to the age where they are competitive and my niece is one of the best softball pitchers in her age group in Texas. She is going to be amazing in high school and I can't wait! My nephew is a great athlete, he just hasn't found his sport yet. He played club soccer for years and recently tried out football (made the A team, starter) and is playing basketball(also a starter) now for his junior high team! I went to watch him a week ago and it was so exciting. Like made me want to cry watching him because my heart was so happy seeing him on the basketball court! I'm not sure if this is normal. I don't attend many basketball games because it makes me miss it so much and I often want to hurdle the bleachers and either A)-rip my clothes off and put on a jersey or B)-start coaching this group of kids I don't even know. Between my niece, nephew, and Jake it is so fun to be able to watch them play and be as good as I was when I was their age. I know how fun it was for me to travel all over the U.S. and see so many different places all because of basketball. These are some of my favorite pictures of the kids!!
Casey pitchin, I'm sure it was a strike! Pretty much all she throws

Things That Make Me Happy
I have been bound and determined to catch up from posts about Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have been too lazy to upload the pics from my camera so I did it all today, along with Christmas cards I got addressed! I am feeling pretty accomplished! This post will be so random with random things but they mean to much to me to leave them out! So, here ya go!
Green Beans-I told y'all I wanted to upload the pics of my bundles from Thanksgiving! These are my favorite and were a HIT at Cody's family dinner! They look fancy, like you spent all day preparing them!

Green Beans-I told y'all I wanted to upload the pics of my bundles from Thanksgiving! These are my favorite and were a HIT at Cody's family dinner! They look fancy, like you spent all day preparing them!
3 cans of whole green beans (not cut)
1 package of bacon (cut in half so it won't be so long)
1/2 red onion
Little bit of brown sugar and a whole lotta butter
Take 5-6 green beans and wrap a piece of bacon around them. Dice the red onion very small and sprinkle over them top. Sprinkle brown sugar over the pan, I go VERY light on this cause I don't want it to be sweet. Lastly, cut up butter pieces and put ever so often on the top. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes to cook the bacon then BROIL for about 5 so the bacon will be nice and crispy. I like my bacon cooked, no gooey stuff. They are wonderful and most of all pretty. Anytime you mix bacon grease AND butter, it's going to be good!!!
Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree
I have mentioned before that I wanted this Christmas to be so great for Jake. Cody mentioned the Christmas Tree Farm in town and I knew Jake would LOVE getting to see all of the trees! Of course, the only thing he was worried about was how loud the chainsaw was going to be and how old he has to be to have one. Boys! I loved this and we will go back and get a real tree every year! It's one less thing I have to pack up and put away.
We are still working on this kids smile!
Christmas Parade
The parade came and went in C'Ville. I wanted to get a picture of the actual parade but by the time I picked up my camera to turn to click, it was gone. Yep, that fast! This is Weston(1), Jake(3), Dayton(4), and Garrett(1).
I have a few more things but I will wait until tomorrow! One week until Christmas break!! Whoo-Hoo!

Putting my feet up
My students are benchmark testing today so I actually get to sit at my desk, or blog. Same thing, whatever. For a pregnant lady this is music to my ears. I love a day to rest every once in a while. Have I mentioned how much I love my job? I commute about 40 minutes to work on a country road but it's worth every bit of the drive. My students are GREAT and SMART and I have no public school drama to put up with. Jake comes with me to the pre-school program here. It's truly amazing to say the least. His teacher is a retired kindergarten teacher and she puts up with no bull. Exactly what my little angel needs. It's amazing to see how he has blossomed this year. Jake has been known to body slam a few kids or punch out a window last year at his old day care. In the past, 3 of the 5 days I would pick him up he would have a bad report. This year he has done incredible. It's crazy to see what a little structure can do for the little guy. And not to mention it makes my job much easier considering I am the one who has to be the disciplinarian. It's tough being a parent. I am pretty sure I have consumed half of the wine intake this year as opposed to last. Is that a bad or good thing? Depends on who you ask I guess....
Some funny things Jake said this weekend: I asked him when his dad was getting married? He said, "I don't know, like 6:30?" Friday on the way to school it was VERY foggy. "Jake said, Mom, I can't even see outside. I said, I know do you know what that's called? His response, Yep, it's FROGGY!"
So, my last post was about me going to the doctor. I thought I was 25 weeks turns out I was only 23.5. Ugghh. He said everything looked great except my weight. Go figure. Who didn't gain 10 pounds the month of November? He is right though. I am at the weight I was when I delivered Jake and I still have 3 months to go. It seems my tummy is so much bigger this time and it happened so much sooner. I always hear women who have more than one child say this is true. My problem is that between Brooke's new blog and PW I have been in the mood to cook. Bad stuff. And in my house when Mama cooks something good, we eat it. All of it. So Brooke I need you to cook healthy stuff pregnant people can eat and NOT gain weight. K? This week I have tried to make better choices and it has helped. I can tell a difference already. My rings are all fitting again. As far as my belly, well, it's still huge but it's okay. This too shall pass... My family is known for big babies and what I hear about Cody's head when he was born we are all in trouble.
Cody is getting a new truck today. Hallelujah! Did you hear me singing? Hallelujah, Hallelujah! He bought his truck when we first starting dating, I guess about a year and a half ago. I think he was trying to impress me because the truck he had then was only a year old too. Anyway-don't get me wrong, I love the truck he has now. It's got every bell and whistle you can possibly imagine and it comes with a payment that is crazy scary. So he has downsized to a F-150 instead of F-250. The F-150 is still very nice and has everything the big truck has besides the crazy scary payment. And I can actually ride in this one without feeling like I'm going in labor because of the over sized tires that make it so rough. It's a win-win for all of us!
We have a pot luck lunch at work today and I thought I would include the meatballs I brought cause they are super easy and perfect for the occasion:
1 bag of frozen meatballs
1 can of cranberry sauce ( the stuff old people cut for Thanksgiving)
1 bottle of chili sauce ( it's by the mayo and stuff, I had never heard of it either)
*I boiled my meatballs for a hot minute cause they tend to be a little greasy. Strain them. Put the cranberry sauce and chili sauce in a pot(you can use the same one the meatballs boiled in) and cook the sauce. Pour the meatballs in and enjoy! They are SUPER yummy. Prolly not the best if you need your rings to fit like me.

Thirsty Thursday
Wishful thinking on the Thirsty Thursday...but oh how I can pretend! I know they say you can have an occasional glass of wine while you are pregnant but I just can't do it. I have thought oh maybe the last 3 months I will since the baby is so much more developed at that time, until I was researching some stuff yesterday and it said that whatever the baby has the last trimester stays in it's bloodstream until birth. So, my child will be tipsy when he's born? That makes me feel terrible and more conscious than ever. My thought may change over night on this, depends on how Jake acts.....
I go to the doctor today. I think I am 25 weeks as of tomorrow. That's crazy to me! I cant believe I am more than halfway done!! I know the next 15 weeks will fly by because of the holidays. Jake is coming home today and he will meet me at the doctor. He LOVES getting to hear Luke's heartbeat. He is the most precious thing at the doctor. He sits in the chair in the room and just beams with pride. When my doctor walks in Jake pokes out his chest a bit and acts like such a big boy. His voice gets a little deeper everytime my doctor talks to him. Jake always high-fives him and tells him he wanted a little brother this whole time but mommy wanted a baby girl! I make it a point to take him everytime, I want him to be so excited about his little brother and anticipate his arrival! Of course, all of this has made him so curious about how Luke got in my tummy and how he will get out. My mom saved the day on that one. She told him it's a miracle that he's in there and only God knows when he will come out. I worry all of the time about Jake and how he will react to not being the only child. For so long it has been just me and Jake. I think it got worse when I met Cody because Cody had no children and he fell in love with Jake. So, now Jake has two people who are CONSTANTLY giving him attention. I know that he will adjust just fine and be the best help in the world! I'm sure this will not be the last post I talk about this is. I think about it every day....
I ordered our Christmas cards today and I can't wait until they are here. I love sending them out and am so excited about next year when we can add a baby to the mix.
Lastly, I guess since I have been doing this blogging Facebook really gets on my nerves. I hate that people put all of their business on there. I mean really? Status updates are so funny to me and the attention people crave when they post stuff. "Just got back from the ER, going to bed" why even update if your not going to say WHY you went. You want 2349078 people to comment "OH MY GOSH, call me ASAP, I hope your ok" or people comment "So glad you are ok, call me in the morning" Or the people that go from single to in a relationship more than once a day? Maybe I shouldn't care but good gosh some things are just better left unsaid!!
Say a prayer that all goes well at the doctor and he says I'm really 40 weeks and he will take the baby soon! Cause Lord knows I'm ready!
